Budget Number Games

According to the most recent Budget Report, Government spending is expected to total £710billion in the 2011-2012 financial year. Total tax receipts are expected to total £589billion, leaving us with a shortfall, or deficit, of £121billion. That's 121 with nine 0s on the end.

£121,000,000,000 which we need to borrow in order to pay our bills. That's £331million a day, £13.8million an hour, £230,213 a minute, or £3,836.88 every second.

Every time the clock ticks, the Government spends nearly £4,000 more than it can afford.

And there are people marching in support of this.

God help us.
